Residential Solar Rebates      February 8, 2010
Rebates up to $10,000 per home are now available on a first-come, first-served basis to Minnesota homeowners who install qualifying solar electric and solar hot water systems.

$5 million contract awarded to St. Paul Port Authority for Commercial and Industrial Energy Efficien      February 8, 2010
NEWS: The Minnesota Department of Commerce's Office of Energy Security (OES) today announced that it has signed a contract to provide $5 million in seed money to the St. Paul Port Authority to create a revolving loan fund for energy efficiency improvements in commercial and industrial buildings.

Licensing changes effective July 1, 2010      February 8, 2010

Financial Exam Reports added      February 4, 2010
Final exam report as of December 31, 2008 for Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America, and Allianz Life and Annuity Company. Reports are listed in alphabetical order.

$2.1 million annuity settlement with Nationwide Life      February 3, 2010
NEWS: Five state insurance regulators, including the Minnesota Department of Commerce, have entered into a $2.1 million settlement with Nationwide Life Insurance Co. and Nationwide Life and Annuity Insurance Co. relating to the alleged unsuitable sale of Nationwide Life variable annuities to clients of Kansas-based financial advisory firm, Waddell & Reed Inc. Minnesota's portion of the settlement is $403,577.

Minnesotans reminded to consider flood insurance before snowmelt      February 1, 2010
NEWS: With the potential for serious flooding in the Red River, Minnesota and possibly Mississippi river valleys this spring, Governor Pawlenty is reminding Minnesota homeowners to consider purchasing optional flood insurance before the snowmelt and spring rains. Flood damage is not covered under a standard homeowner's policy.

New Enforcement Action Section      January 25, 2010
Settlements entered into by the Minnesota Department of Commerce and firms selling auction-rate securities to Minnesota investors are now available on a dedicated page on our site. Minnesota has collected more than $7,000,000 in civil penalties from these firms. Additional information and future settlements will be posted to this page

Additional $11.6 million for Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program      January 21, 2010
NEWS: The Minnesota Department of Commerce today announced Minnesota has received $11.6 million in federal emergency contingency funds for its Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program for the Minnesota Energy Assistance Program. The funds are in addition to the regular allocation of $143.3 million for the current heating season, the second installment of which the DOC announced earlier this week.

Minnesota receives $34.9 Million more for low-income home energy assistance      January 19, 2010
NEWS: Minnesota Department of Commerce today announced Minnesota has received an additional $34.9 million in federal Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program funds for the Minnesota Energy Assistance Program.
