Printable Content Affordable prescription medicine for Minnesotans Minnesotans deserve information and access to affordable prescription medications. This website provides information about prescription medicine, safety and cost-saving tips, and programs to help Minnesotans pay for prescription medications. In addition to Minnesota RxPrice Compare which lists local prescription medication prices, this site provides information about accessing lower-cost prescription medicine from Canada , a service that will continue until March 1. On Dec. 31, 2008, the Total Care Pharmacy contract expired and TCP no longer participates in Minnesota RxConnect. Services are available from the other participating pharmacies. Canadian program will end March 1 The option to access prescription medicine through Canadian pharmacies affiliated with Minnesota RxConnect will end Feb. 28, 2010. The program will continue until March 1. More information is in a press release and will soon be available on the Web site. Minnesota RxPrice Compare includes generic alternatives Minnesota RxPrice Compare now displays local pharmacy prices for brand name, generic equivalent and therapeutic alternative medication options. The consumer tool compares the "usual and customary" prices of 400 commonly used prescription medications. Some brand name medications on this site include a list of generic medications that may be cost effective alternatives to the more expensive brand name medication. A printable list of alternative medication in other categories is included. Best Buy Drugs site offers consumer information Consumer Reports Best Buy DrugsTM is a website that provides information about the effectiveness, safety and cost of medicines, and identifies "Best Buys." The information a free, public education project of Consumers Union, the nonprofit publisher of Consumer Reports, is intended to help consumers open conversations with doctors or health care providers about which medicines can give the most value for health care dollars. Minnesota was a pilot state for the project. Linkage Line offers Medicare prescription drug help Minnesotans who are eligible for federal Medicare prescription drug coverage can receive free, impartial assistance through the Linkage Line (800) 333-2433.
