Governor Tim Pawlenty November 8, 2005 H1N1 Novel Influenza Information for Faith and Community Based organizations may be found at: http://www.health.state.mn.us/divs/idepc/diseases/flu/h1n1/ http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/ http://www.pandemicflu.gov/plan/community/faithcomchecklist.html People who are ill with influenza-like symptoms should not attend public gatherings - including faith-based gatherings. While the risk of infectious disease transmission by most religious rites and rituals is very low, it may be prudent for congregations to consider other practices to prevent transmission of germs, e.g. common communal cup. Cover your cough/sneeze with tissues or cough into your sleeve. Clean your hands often - use soap and water or carry alcohol-based hand sanitizer. The Governor's Council on Faith and Community Service Initiatives was created by Governor Tim Pawlenty to develop a closer connection between the state government and faith and community organizations by increasing access to existing funding resources, reducing barriers to the delivery of services and promoting best practices. It is our goal to provide an easily accessible comprehensive tool that connects you to available resources. We hope that you will use this web site to find valuable information regarding current funding opportunities, available training workshops, seminars, technical support and existing service providers. You may also link directly to the White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships and the Faith-Based and Community Service Agency Centers within the federal departments. We welcome your comments, recommendations and success stories as we continually improve and update the contents of this web site. Thank you for all you do to serve people in need throughout the State of Minnesota. Lee Buckley, Special Advisor Printable Content
